Alex Smith goes to the Redskins

Alex Smith is set to join the Washing Redskins in the first big money deal of 2018. The Redskins and his current football team, the Kansas City Chiefs agreed in January 2018 to let Smith go to Washington.

The Washington Redskins have offered Alex Smith a 4-year contract that is worth about $94 million including a massive $71 million guaranteed in case of injuries. Additionally, Smith is still under a five-year deal of $111 million. The deal will become effective and finalized from the onset of the new NFL league which is set to begin on 14 March 2018. The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to let Smith join Washington. The deal is an exchange for Smith, who is 33 and plays as quarterback, with Fuller who is a cornerback.

Smith is excited about the new opportunity with the Washington Redskins. The quarterback joined Kansas City from San Francisco 49ers in 2012. During the time, Smith has assisted Kansas City to playoffs in 4 of 5 seasons he has played, and the Redskins are banking on the Smith’s experience to reach playoffs again in the upcoming season. The Redskins have not made it to the playoffs since 2015.

At the Redskins, Smith reunites with Vernon Davis, his former teammate at the San Francisco 49ers. According to Smith, Davis was one of the first friends to congratulate and welcome him to Washington and the team. Smith played seven seasons for the 49ers before leaving in 2012 for Kansas City.

Redskins offer a new Chance

Smith is looking for the new challenge at Washington. The Redskins are providing a chance for Smith to succeed in his career. Smith has 4,042 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns in his career so far.
