2015 NBA Finals Earns ABC The Highest Ratings Since Michael Jordan's Last Title Win In 1998

Its official, the 2015 NBA finals matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers was the most watched NBA finals since 1998. If you happen to be an NBA fan then you know that 1998is when the legendary Michael Jordan won the NBA finals together with his team the Chicago Bulls.

So what exactly made this matchup between the Cavs and the Warriors a must watch for many people? Well, it had a lot of stories in it. For instance, this was the first time that rookie NBA coaches were meeting up at the finals and had the opportunity of joining the list of rookie NBA coaches who went all the way and won the trophy. In addition to that, the matchup between this year’s NBA league most valuable player, Stephen Curry and Lebron James, who is without a doubt one of the best players to ever played the game, also brought in lots of viewers as many wanted to know who would emerge top. 

According to reports a total 19.94 million viewers tuned into ABC so as to watch Curry and James go head to head. The figure of 19.94 million viewers broke the initial record that had been there of 18.9 million set back in 2001 as the Los Angeles Lakers took center court against Allen Iverson and his team, the Philadelphia 76ers. 

According to reports, Tuesday’s game 6 matchup, which was a must win for the Cleveland Cavaliers, racked in a huge number of viewers. A total of 23,254,00 million viewers tuned in to ABC to watch whether James would be able to lift the Cavaliers past the Warriors and force a game 7.
